The Perfectly girly Girl

Ah. Haven’t been updating in ages! Its been more than a week now and I missed blogging! I’ll start from backwards and rewind my week down till my ‘Happy’ list of last Monday which I missed. Today after church, Arlena and I committed the worst female crime ever- Shopping. We didn’t mean to, didn’t we Arlena? Anyway, I tried to spend as minimal as possible. I ended up buying my toiletries of body wash, moisturizer, razors, but not deodorant. Such a headache hunting for the 2-in-1 bargain Nivea has for pearly white. Sigh. I hit 3 stores with no luck and I gave up. Even walking all the way to Guardian at the other end of the mall made me feel tired. Will get it at Guardian KJ tomorrow.

We both had to go to Megamall, she had to grocery shop for some amazing garlic and spices flour for fried chicken called Tae-Pi (Thai) to bring home to KK. Its her semester holiday already. Funny thing is, at the supermarket, she completely forgot the purpose of going there, and grabbed some milo packs instead and pushed the trolley to get my stuff. Then midway, she remembered and we were laughing at how blur we were. She had no luck either at the supermarkets and will have to shop somewhere else for the flour.

At Isetan, I had to send in my punch card, IC copy and bank account number for my salary. I am sooo glad I won’t be working there like I did for nearly a week! Was scolded a little by the permanent promoter for Givenchy & Versace for the poor sales. I was too happy after shopping that I had no retorts to give, until I reached home and thought that it wasn’t all my fault. She hadn’t briefed me with any product knowledge in the first place, hadn’t informed me of promotions, of what free gifts to give to certain purchases, and anything at all about the perfumes. So why should she expect so much from me? Anyway, its over, I’m done, and I did gain some experience at least. The other permanent staff at the fragrance counters told me G&V isn’t doing too well in sales anyway. And the bill she opened within those two days after my working days were over? I bet it was that Turkish Canadian guy who came back to get it. He came to the counter on my last day and was interested in that Versace set, and said he would come back. So there. That’s my commission in her hands.

Arlena and I decided to just check out (very harmlessly put) the women section at Isetan. We saw Guess bags on crazy discounts! There was one green and cream cloth bag I liked, but it would be so hard to match with clothes L I wish it was in black and cream. Sigh. Arlena was condemning my junk bag that has straps holding on with last few threads. She said it’s about time I get a branded bag that will last, instead of buying bags over and over again when my cheap ones start coming apart. That is the best advice I had today. LOL. Will take it to heart. Will shop for a proper handbag next weekend :D Women’s clothes upstairs were on full scale sale! Before we knew it, we were in the changing rooms with items in our hands. Hahaha. Crime in motion! Arlena decided that we would benefit from getting an Isetan member card, coz members get more discounts, so she did us a favour by getting us one to share. J I picked one Padini blouse that has a boat neck, with pink linings on the neckline, and three big brown buttons at the front. It was 60% for members, and it cost RM31 for me. Not bad.

When I was heading to the ATM machine, Arlena called me to specifically FORBID me from going to the second floor. She let out the most provocative warning- Pierre Cardin lingerie-big, big SALE. People, it’s about time you know how much I love buying lingerie. And this was something I would kill to browse and buy. So her warning was a calling for me, and I rushed back up after withdrawing money. Needless to say, we both emerged sufficiently satisfied. I bought a light blue polka dot set to replace my old one. For RM24.50! Hers was a stunning set as well :D I dig being a girl.

My Padini bargain blouse. Love the cotton candy pink. So refreshing.

I had the most tiring week ever. Selling perfumes without being able to sit and wait for customers is sheer torture. And Thursday & Friday I worked 12 hours! It was my moment of hell on earth. I wanted to chop off my feet. My once comfy black formal shoes revealed its true colours after my standing for several hours on my first day and the rest of those excruciating days. There are now nasty cuts of my feet, like a knife sliced through or something.

 Remnants of the cuts

But overall, the experience was good. At least I can say I’ve tried something new in my life.  J I’ve no regrets. I finally got to work with guys who won’t hit on me (because they are not exactly manly guys, if you catch the drift), and although sniffing perfumes of nearly 20 brands numbed my sense of smell, my cousin told me I still smelled of perfumes yesterday. I enjoyed the company of the ‘guys’ because it was something new. They had more emotions and were almost like girls. I learnt how a gay guy thinks, and how he checks other guys out (just like girls checking out guys I tell you!). There was one kind promoter who kept me company through those bleak days of zero customers, who let me wrap the sets for his brand and was so kind to me. He gave me a miniature Emporio Armani ‘Diamonds’ perfume, and a Diamonds bracelet. I helped him open two bills for Polo, and one for Hermes.

Having Arlena stay with me was so fun J it was the first sleepover experience at my place in the whole of my 21 years on earth. She slept over for four of the days when I finished at 8pm or 9.30pm. First time I ever took buses at night. And it was great to have company. On the first night, there was no taxi from Parmount LRT, so we got on the bus that I’ve seen passing the lane where I stay. It was our first time on that bus, and we weren’t sure where to stop coz it was so dark. We were the last remaining on the bus! The driver was kind enough to stop the bus, look at the bus route map for us to see if he’ll pass our destination. It was Hari Raya Eve, and poor man was still working! It was his first time on that bus route, taking over duties of his already- on- leave colleagues, so he wasn’t too sure about the route names. Nevertheless, we found our way and he dropped us right at the lane. He told us that bus doesn’t pass there at night but he’d do it for us. We were so grateful.

Arlena and I talked every night before falling asleep, and I could feel that bond between us strengthening. On Friday night, my last night, she bought buns while waiting for me to finish work, and I wanted to surprise her with a mooncake- toffee walnut brownie. RM11.90. She had been working since Sunday till Thursday and she wasn’t feeling very well, but she still came and waited to go back with me. I was so worried that I couldn’t surprise her but she was better when we got to my place.

On Tuesday night, we came home to find makeup on my table. It was all Estee Lauder makeup!!! We were delirious and acted like mindless hooligans. They were cast offs from one of my aunts. But they were beautiful and nearly untouched! We eagerly dived into the golden bag of makeup. 3 eye shadow palette cases, a blusher palettes, 4 eyeliners, 3 mascaras, 2 lip glosses, several types of makeup brushes, and a cleansing milk for removing makeup. Arlena, who wasn’t feeling too good immediately felt better. We were so giddy that we acted like drunkards. I gave her an eye shadow palette case. Kept aside some makeup for my cousin, and am gonna give some to my mum. Been wanting to get baby blue and gold eye shadow. Finally, there was a beautiful gold in the colour palette. Managed to buy a baby blue and bronze baked eye shadow on Thursday during at the Elianto promotion outside Jusco at Megamall for the price of RM15 (normal price for one), thanks to Arlena’s buy one free one on Elianto products SMS.

My new make up box :)

Girly goods...

All my little traveling sets finally reorganized... Lotsa thanks to Arlena for supplying most of 'em!

This is sure one long post. Will sum it up with the To Be Happy reasons:
1.      I’ve finally had my first sleepover. And at the same time, a close friendship with a very great girl whom I spent most of my week with.
2.      I’m getting a paycheck from my perfume job!
3.      I’ve got loads of goodies to add to my girly girl collections
4.      Will be bag hunting this weekend =)
5.      I’ve got 5 movies and a novel to watch- all lent by Arlena
6.      Learnt a lot, saw much of life in this one week. Reality checks are healthy.
